The recent dedication for the 9/11 Memorial Museum reminded me that the effort required to destroy is far less than the effort to build. In the same way, a child can become an orphan in the matter of moments but the amount of time and energy to bring that child to a family is great.

As we have had a couple weeks at home to finally settle down and decompress from our adventures in your home country, I think it appropriate to consider what all has transpired, not only these last 45 days in Honduras but the past seven years leading up to this and all of the hands that have played a part in this journey.

Rather than list the names (and potentially miss a few), I will list those who have generously given of time and finances by groups. So here is our most grateful thanks to:

• The 70+ people who worked with us during our Both Hands fundraiser back in April of 2008.

• The many families who contributed to that event and helped us raise over $14,000.
• The medical personnel who examined our entire family at least three times for physicals. 
• All of the notaries who notarized literally hundreds, if not thousands, of documents over the years. 
• Those who donated items for our yard sale that helped us raise over $1,500.
• And we cannot forgot the many who also gave in addition to these totaling nearly another $9,000. Wow.
• The early risers who met us at 4:30 in the morning at the airport with goodies in hand.
• The generous families who provided meals for our children while we were gone.

• The family and friends who gave their time and energy to stay overnight with the children.
• Our precious friends and “family” in Honduras who loved and cared for us to make our second home feel like home.
• The wonderful foster family who have loved, sacrificed and cared for you for over three years.
• Those who mulched and landscaped our yard and cleaned our house while we were gone.
• The 40+ cheerleaders who greeted us at the airport.
• The many who gave clothes, supplies, books, stickers, a bike, a pool, toys, and more.

• And lastly, we want to thank everyone who prayed for us throughout the process. 
  
  

Ultimately, our gratitude is to the Lord for first leading us in this amazing journey and walking with us in every step, especially in those moments where we were in doubt that this would actually ever happen. We are trusting that He will continue to work just as He has since the beginning of the adoption.

In case this is our last post for a while, I just want to reiterate that we are truly thankful that you are now in our family. Welcome home.
